The Azul Pacifico Challenge

The Azul Pacifico Challenge We endeavor for Azul Pacifico to become a great example of collaboration efforts and initiatives to improve people’s lives.

Azul Pacifico lies back-to-back to the sleepy fishing village of Anconcito. The villagers, some 10.000 in all, rely mostly on artisan fishing for their livelihood.

Fish stock has been dwindling worldwide and the waters of Anconcito are no exception to this. Less catch means less money to bear with the cost of living. Opportunities are scarce.
We believe Azul Pacifico can have a major role in improving the lives of the people of Anconcito out of initiatives towards of education, training, job opportunities, services and more.
The challenge also lies in creating in Anconcito a pro-positive mindset for optimism, hard work and creativity but with reasonable expectations too.

One of the major elements to be driving this change for the better Azul Pacifico will be a snowballing collaboration effort already brewing among local and national authorities, the private sector (Azul Pacifico and friends) and the community of Anconcito.

Anconcito is a rough-around-the-edges-town, with pretty much zero planning and poor infrastructure. But as it is it gives us a great canvas to work on. It’s an opportunity.
The Azul Pacifico Challenge

We envision that in a few years Anconcito can change its face and tweak its spirit to become one of the most interesting coastal towns to visit in Ecuador, while still retaining its traditions and character.

This is a joint effort. Obstacles are to be seen as challenges. Problems are to be seen as opportunities. Hard work, a creative mindset, collaboration efforts, reasonable expectations will deservedly bring the change to improve lives. This is what we want to foster.
